Description:

I. PURPOSE OF JOB

This position is responsible for the acquisition, replacement, configuration and support of the Company’s PC deployments, software licensing, telecommunications systems and related hardware and software. This position also manages the Company’s help desk and assists with acquisition, configuration and support of all network hardware and supporting infrastructure equipment.

II. SCOPE
The Network and Support Specialist reports directly to the Senior Network Administrator. This position will operate under moderate supervision and will require the Team Member to perform assigned tasks in a thorough, timely and efficient manner.

Duties:

III. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist as needed with day-to-day responsibilities for networks including stability, performance, security, and data communications with other Company locations, internet services and accessibility of network resources from remote locations.

• Manage the company help desk by resolving issues submitted or assigning issues to the appropriate IT member

• Assist with the acquisition, installation, configuration, licensing and support of desktop and server hardware and software.

• Manage existing communications system and evaluate present/projected volume of communications, effectiveness and adequacy of system, and estimated equipment replacement and maintenance costs.

• Prepare for action by management recommendations for acquisition of newly developed, additional, or replacement PC, network and communications equipment.

• Contact vendors to arrange for bids for lease or purchase of equipment.

• Manage the department pool of mobile communications and networking equipment for Team Members requiring these items when traveling.

IV. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

This position has dual roles, first as the key contact on all telecommunication and desktop issues; second is providing computer and network technical support on multiple hardware and software issues. This position requires a minimum of two years experience with personal computer networks such as Windows Server or Microsoft Active Directory. This position also requires a minimum of one year experience dealing with outside vendors in procuring telecommunications services and equipment. A strong technical background in computer support and telecommunications is necessary. This position requires an open style of communication with the ability to convey complex technical issues to non-technical people. This position requires a constant transfer and sharing of knowledge with other IT Team Members. A team player attitude is required.
