Description:

A Embedded Software Engineer II demonstrates JAVA/C++ object oriented programming skills applied to department objectives. The position typically involves developing new and maintaining existing system features to meet industry requirements. The ability to accurately estimate project scope and complete tasks on schedule is a requirement.

Duties:

• Researches, designs, and develops system software and firmware
• Applies strong C, C++, and Java developer experience to code new and enhanced development objectives; analyze objectives and problems specified by engineers and/or designers.
• Develops testing scripts and documentation with the QA, Training, and Documentation departments.
• Meets difficult technical challenges and tight deadlines.
• Troubleshoots and diagnoses client issues and resolves them in an efficient and timely manner.
• Contacts customers, as necessary, to attain feedback of stability and reliability of software.
• Reports any discrepancies, changes or recommendations, and/or problems for resolution to senior management.
• Modifies existing software to correct errors, adapt to new hardware, adapt to new customer requirements, or to improve performance.
• Analyze information to determine, recommend and plan installation of a new system or modification of an existing system.
• Consults with other employees and departments to evaluate interface between hardware and software, development specifications, performance requirements, and to resolve customer problems.
• Store, retrieve, and manipulate data for analysis of system capabilities and requirements.
• Prepare correspondence concerning project specifications, activities, and status.

Qualifications:

• BSEE or BSCE from a four-year college or university (Computer Sciences, Engineering, or related field), or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Five or more years experience as object oriented programmer. High degree of knowledge and understanding of the following technologies will be highly regarded and some may be required depending on the position requirements:

• Experience with embedded system development and tools.
• Experience with C++, C, and Embedded Java.
• Experience with Linux and gcc compiler a plus.
• Experience with multi-threaded applications and socket APIs.
• Experience with Servlets, HTML, XML, JSP, JDBC, Oracle (or other RDBMS), SQLPlus, and CORBA a plus.
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• A high degree of analytical thinking and problem-solving.
• Excellent organizational skills and an extremely high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Experience in Casino Management Systems and an understanding of technology requirements, constraints, and approaches will be highly regarded.
• Experience with G2S, S2S, and SAS will be highly regarded.
